So Craig Curran jumps ship for Carlisle......what do all make of that?

I should imagine he will be easily replaced.

Decent workrate, but 16 goals from 111 games for a striker is woeful!

most prob went because they offered him a 2 year deal. don't know what we offered but i reckon only a 1 year.
Abit supprised he has gone there, thought he would have ended up in league 2.

oh well, looks like we need 2 strikers now.

Not a huge loss there are better players available than him he wont be missed.

I expected him to sign, you do have to worry about the wages we're offering. If Curran has turned us down, I would expect Zoum and Welsh to follow suit!

He's no Chris Dagnall but we may live to regret that move I feel.

We will be entitled to compensation for him, not massive money but a bit more in the pot. THB i thought he was older than 21

I'm gutted he's gone, always been a favourite of mine. Although maybe Gornell can start to shine now.

Worried about Welsh and Zoom though, I think if Craig didn't want to stay, then them two wont either.

Think we need to get some players signed up soon, I hope Parry has a few in the pipe line. I'm confident that he has though, I have 100% faith in him.

Worrying times though, lots of clubs at our level seem to have snapped a few up now.

I don't think the reason Craig left is for money, he wants to play up front.

Hardly a massive loss, he works hard and that but quality wise their are much better available and his goal return is erm, shocking.

He'll be remembered for his work-rate though.

Is this article written by his agent?! He's being awful, fans have every right to criticse a vastly overrated player such as Curran who believes he is playing well when he clearly isn't.

Wake up TT Curran has gone and we're better off for it. There's no danger of him being a Dagnall don't worry.

If I'm his agent then yes it was written by him!

Can't blame him I s'pose - can't be nice to be the scapegoat.

Shame really - getting pretty disillusioned with the lower divisions, with half the team moving on every season, you lose the connection with the players. Its not your team anymore just this seasons collection of players here for a year.

Probably go next season but losing interest pretty quickly.

I agree that football has lost its way and that it is hard to identify with players who move for often very little gain.

I am sorry to see Curran go,he was local and many really good strickers had a similar ratio of goals to appearances when young. Few strikers are reallly prolific in their early years.

I am even more concerned that we cannot compete on the wages front with very moderate clubs. It does make the Robinson and Hill rumours look far fetched. It also suggests that we face afuther decline in quality.Last year we just got away with it but surely if we continue on the same minimum investment we face certain relegation

I can sympathise with that Mike although I don't think it will stop me going so much.

No great loss, yes he works hard but he runs down blind alleys and has very little quality. We are looking really short up front now, Gornell is worse than Curran in my opnion and we can't just rely on ITM.

I'm dissapointed to see him go because he was a local lad at the end of the day and they are few and far between nowadays. I guess he thought that seen as how Les has said publicly that he intends to continue with the 433 and he wants to play up front, then best to leave.

I am worried now that we only have two strikers being ITM and Gornell and neither with a superb strike rate. I hope Les has something up his sleeves or it could be the same as last season when Barnes only left us with two recognised centre backs!!!

Does this now mean that Mackreth and Fraughan will now form part of that 433!!!!

i thought his work rate was good but he was terrible realy gornell is not good enought either i can see welsh and zoum going to parry needs to get some players in or i think the best thing is we get relegated and johnson @#$%& off an we get new ownrs and also a new ground it is to big for the rovers its just look silly new manager to

Good luck to him he will be missed for his effort more than for his goals. He is still young enough to imrpove especially playing in the middle of the attack more.

Only time will tell if he will be missed much will depend on who else we get in up front.

Shame we've lost him. Decent player IMO as I've stated many times on here before and I think somebody with his workrate will be difficult to find, as a lot of running and work is exactly what is needed in Les Parry's team

Curran was ideal in the 433 formation, as it is all about hard work. Would have liked to see him given a chance as a striker in a 442 as I think he may have learnt to composed himself better and develop as a striker. 433 asks him just to run and run (which he did) but it did not develope him as a player. He did what was asked of him, as people should appreciate that the two wide forwards were expected to be centre forwards and help out the full backs. The reason for this is at the start of the season the centre mids were so poor they needed three of them to do a two man job!!!

Good look to him. I think it is our loss.

oh well he has a really good work rate and is a skillfull player but his goals record was never fantastic although he wasn't used much as a front man!

lets hope we can bring in a goal scorer / creative forward or 2 because the lack of goals last season was worrying

good luck to craig at his new club although i hope we take 6 points off them next season!

does anyone know of any players we are reported to be looking at

When it comes to august I'll almost certainly want to go again. It spoils things a lot though - I've no problems with players making a step up even if its not division wise but sideways moves disapoint me.

Why I was made up welsh signed - if he left we'd of replaced him probably like for like but surely its not just me who wants to see a new set of players every season.

It'd be good to see leeway - but it works both ways - give players a chance don't just discard them immediately after an iffy season but at the same time they don't buggger off after a half decent season.

Unfortunately this isn't how things work and it sucks - and like I say I'm not seeing the point of supporting lower division teams if this is how its going to work although like I said (agan) come august I'll probably be up for the new season again as always.

If you are that disillusioned why not join the majority of Wirralians and cross the river to support someone elses team!

Les was on the radio earlier talking about curran and said he had a few things in his contract that would have made him an expensive player for tranmere so he was allowed to leave.

Les also said expects to be named manager this week.

I didnt get down at all last season with work commitments....but I do recall the Carlisle away game where Curran came off the bench to steal the show, cant comment as per always fully but I suppose 30-50k fee due to his age isnt great but hopefully the board who look at his fee dont see Striker = goals and look more towards player is young and spent a long time at Tranmere.

At Falkirk we had a striker similar to Curran a few moons ago, would run his until his heart bled steam,but his goals tally didnt equal, in comes Simon Stainrod and leads him to top goalscorer and interest from many clubs. Sometimes a players ability is there with certain players to play with. I wish him all the best, always a bad thing when local players move on, sometimes I think they try to hard to please as they know what it means. Not fully gutted but the way things now are in football, who is a player who brings that gutting feeling at this level ?

I could rant for hours here,(I am on the final leg of a holiday in Portugal....leg being I leave in 5hrs) Ive had a drink and the topic made me think of an unsung strikers at Tranmere......Jim Steel......We havent lost a Jim Steel....so lets move on and good luck
