Les Post-Match: " We Self Destructed"

After yesterday's awful 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, Manager Les Parry rued the way his side self destructed after a strong start to record a home defeat that was in the end a disaster both in terms of recent confidence and optimism...........
Tranmere Manager Les Parry rued the way in which his side, in his own words, 'self-destructed' against Bournemouth to record a dismal 3-0 defeat in front of their own fans after a promising start in the early part of the game.
Les also spoke further on the ongoing saga of striker and Captain Ian Thomas-Moore.
Speaking to the Tranmere Rovers Official Website, Les Parry said.....
"We started better than since I've been in charge. A free kick almost gives us the lead and within ten seconds they've scored. It was just a big punt down the middle for the second one. I thought we pressed the self destruct button repeatedly."
"Once again we started the second half really well and it was just a square ball to Terry Gornell where they've intercepted and we're 3-0 down. I think when we look at it again, we'll find we've had more shots and crosses into the box than we've had all season."
"You have to be in the dressing room to see how gutted the lads are. We had to take Joss Labadie off because he was going to get sent off because he was showing too much passion. I had to take Ian Thomas-Moore off because he had been booked and had he stayed on there was a good chance he would be sent off. We didn't want to lose 3-0 and have two players being unavailable."
"I thought Enoch was one of our better players. He's improving as our fitness improves. We changed to 4-4-2 in the second half to try to get more crosses in the box. I'm not into playing one system at home and one system away. If we go 4-4-2 it will be home and away."
Les also spoke in more detail about the ongoing soap opera surrounding Ian Thomas-Moore telling the press......
"Ian is frustrated that things are dragging on. I know Ronnie (Moore) has been on the radio saying we haven't offered him two years which is a little bit unfortunate. The fact that he's his son is the only reason we're not hauling Rotherham before the Football League because what has gone on with Ian is totally unacceptable, it's not professional."
"What will be will be. We're trying to get him to stay. Ian is telling us he has been offered more money, but that's not legal for him to know. Somebody is talking to him and making him an offer. The whole thing isn't right."
"I want Ian to stay but he has to stay on our terms. I think somebody is playing him like a fiddle. I don't know who that person is but they're getting him to say things. And while that's happening I'll have no impact on whether or not he stays or goes."

Really interesting what he said about Ian Moore. Obviously Ronnie is stirring things up and to be honest it might be best if Ian goes now. I think if he stays he will have a chip on his shoulder and it won't be healthy for the team - a lot of us saw how he reacted when Les substituted him and I don't think Ian has ever had a great deal of respect for Les.
I think the team are behind Les as well, which I don't think was the case when we started losing badly under Barnes. It is just ITM who is, for me, a bit of a daddy's boy and if he wants to follow Ronnie around with his career then so be it.I think it will be a negative thing hanging over the squad if he stays now. He has been professional and put in performances since the speculation began but I'd much rather see Ian Goodison captain now, who has always been heart and soul Tranmere.
I think Parry is spinning it not to alienate his own fans, he has no proof of an illegal approach because he stated when Ian supposedly said he's been offered a contract and more money that he didn't know the club but how does he know it's not ITM agent trying to get him more money..
ITM will not move to Rotherham because Tranmeres valuation and Rotherham's offer is miles apart and unless Tranmere drop there valuation it won't happen..

He's over a barrel. He can't go owing to the fee and can't stay on THEIR terms which will be a reduced wage.
This is like PJ with his minimum paid workers.
Suddenly, the player people who were praising ITM and wanting him here are now on Parry's side, and ITM, who must know a lot more than Parry about football,( who doesn't) is the villain.
Let's see what the gate is in a few weeks time.
