Tranmere Rovers v Bury Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
December 29 2011
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Bury on Friday night, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.

Tranmere of course host Bury on Firday night in NPower League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!

Like to see us;
Chubs
Holmes/Raven Taylor Macca/Goodi Buchs
Weir Welsh
Mcgurk/Akins Baxter Robinson
Akins/Tiryaki
Like the line up ! with Zoom and Robbo on the bench to make a chanf ! just hope Mike Jones don't get time on the ball
Our midfield looked much better, dare I saw it, with Joss in the middle ahead of Welsh. He had a fine game, but IMO nobody was better than Holmes who was brilliant, whilst Buchanan was back on form on the other flank.
The important thing was getting the win. Going in a goal up and with a clean sheet behind us at half time was brilliant for our confidence and we grew from there.
A few shaky moments. They should have scored with a couple of headers but our luck was finally in.
Great clean sheet for the defence although both full backs were caught out too often and although Holmes was OK he was nothing more than that in my opinion and same for Buchanan.
I thought Bury played decent football in parts but on the whole we deserved the win - great three points!

Good for the clean sheet, as that back 5 is still 3 men shy, of the one Les would have used in the first game and it can't be good sometimes having a chop and change defence and goalkeeper scenario, because it must to some extent disrupt player chemistry and blend.
Hopefully Goodison and possibly Raven also, will return for the Sheffield Wednesday game, as they will need experienced capable players like that, especially someone like Goodison to stonewall their attack, as playing such a solid form team at their ground will be tough.
I'd be happy to settle for a Charlton type away performance, with a point, but sneaking a win would be very good of course.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
" Made in Raby"for the first well worth a look on the net if its up yet!Bury's defence went to sleep for the second"the only time the wern't doing a solid job all match" at times Tranmere backed off so much so they invited Bury in to have a go,a very dangerous game to play midfield squashed far to tight to the defence and as everyone knows hoofing it out of defence it then just falls to the attacking team inviting more pressure on to you but all in all the result matters more than the quality but certain players need a rocket up them at time and a sense of urgency needs to be instilled
We were a bit lucky tonight because they had two headers which shaved the crossbar. I thought Bury looked decent when they passed it around but resorted to hoofball in the second half and made it easy for us.
the box in the sense of coming out and picking the ball out of the air in the way Fon Williams does or others have in the past.
Still a win three points nearer the fifty + mark a draw a Sheff Wed on Monday would be a good result.
Agree with sub the full backs were ok but nothing more, neither got forward very much to support the wide forward players.
I thought tiryaki had a decent game at times but joss was certainly the best player for us but booked yet again.
At times we passed the ball around really well and looked a good team but the centre halves just launched it forward too often. We tend to invite pressure on to ourselves as when they had corners we left nobody up front so had not out ball.
All in all we did deserve to win and their keeper made a couple of stunning saves, the clean sheet for us is a good bonus.
My only other comments relate to the anti Les loonies. Surrounded by a few who continually moaned, until we went one up. That was the time to go for an early pie. 10 minutes before the interval. Came back 15 minutes after the interval to throw a a few more insults, the moment we come under pressure. You do wonder if these people have a clue or just come to the match to get rid of their marital stress (this includes partners etc.)
Best wishes to everyone for 2012.

Very good result against a team who have had very good results away from home. Good all round team display with Ladabie shading MOM. Ash Taylor the brunt of so called supporters jeers also had an excellent game and deserved the goal. I wish people would see him for what is is a solid defender not a creative midfielder. I for one would rather see a hoof up the field rather than messing about on the ball when under pressure. His goal was a well deserved reward for a good nights work.

Thought buchs against 2 very good wingers was exceptional and holmes had a very tidy game. No full back in the world is going to stop crosses coming in.
Joss looked fantastic in the middle.
Still concerned at how akins and mcgurk seem to play like 2 extra full backs as opposed to wingers. The number of times we attack and they are behind play or watching behind them is frightening.... in the system we play they have to be given license to be more attacking especially at home. We attack with no more than 3-4 players at times where as mk and bury both away from home throw the 4 attackers 2 midfielders and 2 full backs forward!!!!!!
