If you can't make Tranmere's game away at Aston Villa on Tuesday evening, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.
Tranmere of course, make the trip to Premier League side Aston Villa on Tuesday evening in the second round of the Capital One Cup, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!

Ten years since our last away draw against a Premier League club (lost 6-1 to Southampton) and eight years since our last away game against a Premier League club (F.A. Cup replay against Bolton under Brian Little). We've upset clubs before, hopefully tomorrow we can have a blast from the past with a good old underdog win. Maybe I'm mad, but I think we can do it

We can beat them but it will be very hard although if we can score first the crowd might get anxious as theyve had a bad start to the season. Really looking forward to a good day out and hopefully a win

I'll give Tranmere a 30% chance of winning and 50% chance of a draw.
They, (Villa), need to get a win, because after their start, a draw won't suffice and the prospect of a replay at Tranmere's ground and possibly picking up an inury or two won't please Lambert, given he'd be playing a team who drew against, what I would expect to be a pretty full strength side, no glut of second string and pint sizers.
Tranmere would have better odds of winning the home replay and if they had a win, against a slightly out of sorts Colchester side under their belts and could be top of the table with 10 points, Lambert could feel right up against it in a replay and his last encounter at PP ended up with a 3-1 defeat for his Norwich team, so it wasn't a happy hunting ground when he was last here.
I hope Cassidy bags a goal, as so far he's been good enough and teed up a goal against Orient, but he's going to get a bit frustrated, if he doesn't net one soon and playing against a rival team of his parent clubs, I can't see any sweeter opportunities to score than this one, even more sweet than bagging one against Walsall I would think.
I just hope Aston Villa have strong stomachs, because if Tranmere get their way, Lambert's men will be eating chips with p!ss on them

I just want us to batter them! After '94 and they robbed us of a final, I want revenge.

My timing for holidays this year is a bit off, I arrive in the UK this Sunday, so will miss this game against Villa and Saturday's game at home. Hope the lads continue with their good form and at least come away with a draw - that way I'd be there for the replay at PP. All the best to Ronnie and the team tonight.

I notice that some posters refer to the prospect of a draw and areplay.Surely, in this competition there are no replays ,so a draw is impossible

What kind of idiot talks about the 'prospect of a replay' in the League Cup?
Replays were done away with in this particular competition way back in the mid-90s.

Replays were done away with in this particular competition way back in the mid-90s.
Before you start to call people names try reading the post properly, you will then see i have not mentioned a replay.

I can feel my heart race just thinking about the Coca Cola cup semi-final at Villa Park. Partly it's remembering Aldo breaking free and getting up-ended by Bosnich, partly it's thinking about the referee not sending off Bosnich despite the fact that every other keeper in the same situation for the past couple of seasons had been dismissed without question, partly it's the fact that the only time a Liam Obrien free kick didn't hit the roof of the stand it was milimeters away from sending us into the semi final.
Mostly however it's the memory of the Villa fans racing towards the Tranmere fans at the end of the game obviously preferring to try to goad the Super White Army into a fight rather than celbrating their own victory. They only stopped when they realised that the Tranmere fans were applauding. I'm not saying that all Villa fans are like that but the ones that ran over that day were some of the most horrible scumbags I've seen at football - you obviously see them elsewhere but not in such huge numbers.
I'd love it if we managed to embarrass them tonight... LOVE IT!

I totally agree with Malkins K.Knees...that match at Villa was the most disappointing game I have ever experienced..the journey home was terrible...heartbreaking.We were the better side and deserved to go through.The ref.bottled the crucial decision early in the game in front of a hostile HoltEnd crowd.Lets hope we get our Revenge tonight..come on SWA.

In fairness I think Tranmere did well, from what I could ascertain and were a bit unlucky to lose 3-0, as I think 2-0 or 2-1 would have been a bit more fair.
However I think people like Robbo and Fon and Gibson coped well with the circumstances it would seem and may have been the 3 best players.
just a pity they couldn't nick a goal to take away with them.

It was a game to take a lot of positives from. I thought we matched them at times in the middle although we let Steven Ireland run the show and that little bit of class was the difference. I thought Palmer played well tonight, some great touches at times nd turned a few players. Wallace tried too hard at times, some poor passing but equally some great play. Defensively Gibson an Taylor did a great job. Up until hi injury, Taylor had bent in his pocket which was pleasing to see.
Ronnie needs to give bell baggie a start on Saturday as Thompson didn't do enough for.me. Bell baggie got two of.their players cautioned in the short time he was on n had that been earlier in the game, it could have been different
Immensely proud of the boys tonight, scoreline didn't do us justice but we must learn from it and move on.

3-0 and you have to say was totaly undeserved, they didnt do much to say we are top flight football team, first goal did it cross the line who knows it changed the game all the same the lads done us proud they went to there ground and had a go first half they didnt deserve to have the lead second i think both goals came from counter attacks i think if thats how villa are planning to play this season we could be playing them in the league next year

Don't get me wrong our players tried their best and did well but they perhaps lacked fitness wise compared to Villa and that showed too.
A great experience to see us play there, play some neat stuff at times but just not get enough out of it. Well done lads!

I felt we came out after half time looking very flat and allowing them to have too much space. We let them pass the ball around without really closing down much and when Ireland was in possession he seemed able to create chances at will.
However, I think first 25 minutes were very encouraging whilst Ash had Bent in his back pocket whilst he was on. Sadly, after his injury we went to sleep, let them in and they sealed the game with the second.
Elsewhere, I felt Palmer put in his best performance so far. He showed he's got a good engine and made some good passes. Zoum did well at left-back, Danny solid at right-back and Bell-Baggie again caused problems when he came on.

I thought they were for the taking when i saw there team but i was fairly disappointed by our performance we gave the ball away far too easily, maybe things could have been different if wed got too half time level.
Bannan impressed most for them getting hold of the ball keeping them ticking over and linking well. For me only Fon Zoom Gibson Robbo & JLAA did themselves any justice.
