Last season's midfielder and Captain signs a new one-year contract with the Club......
Tranmere have today confirmed that midfielder and Captain from last season, Steven Jennings has today agreed a new one year contract with the Club following relegation from the Football League at the end of last season.
Jennings, who is 30, began his footballing career in the Tranmere youth system and spent six seasons in the first team squad including a loan spell of just over three months at Hereford United before joining Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in the summer of 2009.

Following a brief two thirds of the season return to Prenton Park during the 2013/14 season, Jennings returned to Prenton Park last October for his third spell at the Club and has made just short of 300 appearances for the Club. either side of spells at Coventry City and Port Vale.
Speaking of remaining with the Club for the upcoming National League campaign, Jennings to the Tranmere Rovers Official Website....
“I want to make right the wrongs of the last couple of seasons, I want to help Tranmere get back in the league and I want to give the fans something to cheer about because they deserve it for the support they've given us."
“Tranmere has been a massive part of my career and I’ll do everything I can to help the Club return to where it belongs. If I had left the Club now I would have always felt I had unfinished business here.”
Manager Gary Brabin added...
“I’m really pleased to keep Steven at the Club. He leads by example in midfield and having spoken to him at length over the past couple of weeks, I can see how determined he is to be a part of a successful team here. I want him to channel the disappointment of last season to help move us forward.”

Blimey, didn't see that one coming. Not sure how I feel, on his day he's a great player, but like most, last season he did nothing.
At least it's stability

Like to think he would be a touch of class at this level. Very surprised he signed but pleased.

Agree with both points by mini_andy and sparky100; that his re-signing was a bit of a surprise and that he could be a touch of class in the Conference. I expected him to leave. But we as a club have shown commitment to him in the past, so it's good to see that being repaid. His form was indifferent last season, but I've read his comments on the official site and it seems like he does in fact care about what happened to us and wants an opportunity to put that right. I, like Tranmere Fan, am willing to give him another chance. Perhaps it's an indicator of the feel good factor behind the scenes under the new regime and that those involved are pulling in the right direction?

I think it is an excellent signing. I think he could have walked away. Hopefully influence one or two other signings.

Looks set to be named as Club Captain for next season too according to Twitter.
Matt Jones (Radio City) Tweeted that Jennings has been asked by Gary Brabin to remain as Club Captain.
Let's hope theres a few more decent signings coming through the door over the next few weeks, and Jennings can get back to being the player we all know he can be for us.

Interesting, he now wants to form part, of our fight to return to League status
A big surprise for me he wants to stay, very average second part of the season.
He might bring a bit of stability, still waiting fora good central defender to be signed to really secure the big problem we had last season.
Very glad to seem him part of the new set up, as Silent says, a new regime with those involved pulling in the same direction.

The pressure did seem to hit him hard last season.
Did not help knowing he had a defence behind him that would concede a soft unmarked goal every game.
Hopefully Brabin can give him a fresh breeze of life and let him play with a bit of freedom. I honestly think he is better further up near the half way line rather than in front of the back four/five but we will see what Brabin wants
Does that mean that Max is off? I would personally let Max go as he wont progress any further as a player staying with us. Plus we get some money for him even if it is only £100-150k
Lets get Holmes and Hill signed up and the rest can go

Jenno signing is a great bit of business by the club. He is a much better player than Conference level.
As stated above, he didn't perform well through a large part of last season. However, I think a midfield with Jenno in allows other, more attacking players to influence the game further up the field. Just look at Max at the start of last season and his goal scoring form.
Hopefully this is a good indication that a lot of players are buying in to whats happening at the club and more players will be swayed to stay with us, i.e. Mr Power.
They go up from his @#$%& to his chest

Powers in talks with Wigan Athletic according to the media, so looks like he's already decided to go.

I said before I'd be disappointed to keep anyone from last season unless they were still in contract so at first I was disappointed with this news.
However I guess a second chance to put things right is fair enough and we have only given him a year.
Credit to him for staying on in this division too!

I am prepared to give him another chance his performances after January were at best average and some poor by his standards.
At least he has committed early, could have waited like must do to see what was on offer, by signing I am more inclined to believe him when he says he wants to help get us back into the league.

Agreed, we should have sold Power at Christmas, my guess is we didn't actually have any firm offers! Decent on his day but never has enough good days, cash in and buy a couple of decent defenders.
Think Kenning is decent but seemed to lose his way and lost his motivation last season, played to deep in my opinion too

Surprised. Not been impressed by Jennings for long time. Think he needs a younger playmaker along side him. Not Power. And a central defensive leader behind him. Will be very concerned if Laird offered terms as well.

Good bit of business personally. He might be invigorated under Brabin and I agree he'll be a player in the top 20% at this level almost certainly and he's Tranmere through and through and just like Koumas may have had offers after a relegation season but stayed put, as Koumas did last year.
Respect to him and hopefully he will find a greater lease of life as his experience and the fact he is Tranmere through and through could be very influential
He will need to find a few more goals in him though as a pile driver might look good, but one or two a season isn't adding much to output, not in the way five to six three yarders potentially could.
I reckon Brabin should tell him to try and score more and give him a Brendan Rogers, Coutinho style rallying cry, then watch Jenno get 15 goals in the league
.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Form and attitude declined last season. I hope that is temporary. I am not sure that he would have picked up another league club.
I am not sure that I would feel convince by a Laird Jenning midfield and the immobile Holness behind them.
Of the players out of contract only Hill would be a choice that for me would offer something good
