After over a week of voting it’s striker James Norwood who wins our Goal of the Month Award for September for his jinking run and finish at home to Chester....
There were a few decent contenders, but the result of our September Goal of the Month Award will come as no surprise to most Rovers fans. After almost ten days of voting, you have voted that James Norwood's goal in the home derby game against Chester is your September Goal of the Month.
Collecting the ball to feet on the halfway line from a throw-in, Norwood jinked his way through the Chester defence, past several Chester defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the net to make it 2-0 to Rovers after Liam Hogan's earlier headed goal.
Norwood's goal away at Southport just a few days later was also a Goal of the Month contender but received no votes whilst Andy Mangan also had two efforts in September up for voting but it was Norwood's Chester strike that won the award with 50% of the vote.
Nathan Blissett's excellent finish against Grimsby came second in the vote (25% of the vote) with Andy Mangan's two strikes coming in thrid (vs Aldershot) and 4th (vs Cheltenham).
