Saliba vs. Lyon

Seeing as it is always quieter on here during the international break...
Anyone catch Saliba vs. Lyon on Sunday? I didn't, but I watched a decent video compilation of his performance. I know, I know, YouTube and stuff can make anyone look great, and the compilation apparently left out three mistakes he made (he's 18), but there's a few things I liked; physically very impressive, good on the ball, reads the game and doesn't dive in.
He'll be 19 when he officially starts with us, and obviously they'll be a new country new league adjustment period, plus possibly some moments of youthful naivety and inexperience, but all being well we could have an excellent talent on our hands and could have our RCB spot filled for years to come!

Yes I watched quite a bit of it. He's tidy but I didnt think Lyon gave him much to think about. They had that funny little bloke making all the runs up front, the one who had the goal disallowed by VAR. Its pretty difficult to tell how an 18 year old central defender will turn out really, especially in the French League. I would sit up and take notice if Saint Etienne bombed up the league and hardly let any goals in for say half a season. Other than that I think we will all be guessing until we see him at Arsenal.

Just watched him vs. Bordeaux, where Saint-Etienne won it with a last-gasp penalty after a good defensive performance.
Thought Saliba had a good game, particularly the second half. Again, calm, reads the game well and stays on his feet. Started right of the back 3, finished centrally.
Yacine Adli for Bordeaux, who apparently turned us down last year, looked good as well.

Watched Saliba again vs. Monaco. Third time I've seen him I think now. Saint-Etienne continued their good form since he returned from injury, winning 1-0.
Saliba played centre of a back three and came close to scoring in the first half. Honestly hard to believe he is 18. His temperament and composure are spot on. Ben Yedder didn't really get a sniff all game.

We will soon bring him back to earth with our defending.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is keen on signing William Saliba - despite him having only joined Arsenal in the summer from St Etienne where he is back on loan.

Hopefully the next manager is bedded in before Saliba comes back and he comes in to an organised setup

What if Saliba, whose head was turned by Zidane, do a Kos, refused to turn up at Emirates and demanded to be sold to Real as he claimed he had no confidence that Emery will improve him?
Can Sallehi turned down a "50-mil plus Ceballos" deal for Saliba?
Stranger things had happened before.
See how players we will lose next season if Emery still continue with us past November 2019?
"The idea is to be more unpredictable every year and be more difficult for the opponents to stop and nullify what we want to do. Thatβs what we have now, especially at the back and in the midfield the options we have, to open up the spaces, we have many more options than we had last year.β Mikel Arteta
