Is it truth we played a faster turnover without Xhaka?

Look at all the UEL Cup, League Cup and yesterday game.
We seem attack more and at a faster turnover of balls going forward.
Coincidence?
Any stat to bear this out?
And oh yeah, we are as sh*tty with or without Xhaka in goal attempts during 2nd half.
ZERO attempt during 2nd half yesterday.
I believe that we are horrid during 2nd half most of the time (maybe only against Aston Villa) and usually registered zero or 1 or 2 attempts on goal during 2nd half; an din most league games, ZERO attempt on target during 2nd half too.
"The idea is to be more unpredictable every year and be more difficult for the opponents to stop and nullify what we want to do. That’s what we have now, especially at the back and in the midfield the options we have, to open up the spaces, we have many more options than we had last year.” Mikel Arteta

U don't need stats to say we are more mobile and more flexible when he doesn't play. Torreira, Ceballos and guendouzi can all keep the ball under pressure

I think you mean no shots on target in second half, which is I agree rubbish
"When we had to suffer the team is a lion because they suffer together." 4 July 2020 at Wolverhampton Wanderers
Arteta on his team's first away victory at a club above them in the Premiership since September 2015 at Leicester.

We played similarly against Chelsea at home and won 2-0. This is what emery does. He was more worried about Wolves threat on the wings rather than pushing them back by playing Pepe.
In the end it's all about the preferences. Neither approach is incorrect as long as u get the result and have the team for it.
Unai s pbm is he doesn't have the defensive abilities in the team when defending one on one and so he is better off playing on the front foot. But that is not his natural style and he refuses to adapt based on the personnel he has available.
On the whole against Wolves, it was marginally better to draw than losing. The palace game was the one where we really dropped points cause palace didn't really play well.
Had we played like we did against Wolves, we d have probably won.

Amazing how everyone says we lack creativity without ozil, then we play him the full 90 and look no more creative.
I did think we looked better without xhaka though

You are playing against Wolves. Don't just go by what you think about Wolves from 10 years ago. They play soaking football really well and we had no spaces to exploit. You under estimate how poor Aubameyang s movement is off the ball. Compare him to Vardy's build up play for Leicester. This is why we have to play Lacazette cause Aubameyang cannot link up well or bring midfielders into play.
Ozil created most of our shots on goal. Him and Lacazette were at the heart of everything.
The off the ball movement from most of the other players in the second half was absolutely @#$%&.
He was heavily involved and played all over the pitch.
This was the best i have seen him play in almost 2 years

As has been said many times, Ozil needs players on his wavelength. Auba is on his wavelength just about, he makes at least some good runs and intuitively knew to leave the ball when he was nearly about to run into Ozil on a counter, enabling Ozil to find Laca for a shot. Ceballos is smart enough to play with Ozil I think and maybe Torreira. Guendouzi not so much based on yesterday but he's young.
Pepe and Ozil would be interesting to watch, defenders could be getting ripped up. But I think under Emery we may never see them on the pitch together.

Quote:Exactly my thoughts. If your see some of the things by Pepe in the first few matches where we didn't have ozil or his fake and moves at the last minute, most of the time the other players didn't even know that he was open and went for a completely different option.Willy

But like your said it will not happen under emery. Unless we are chasing games and he makes the move after Martinelli and Saka failed to create anything after coming on in the last game.
Pepe could get into ozil s way as well as they both occupy the same kind of positions. But ozil has enough nous to move into other areas or free spaces. Pepe we still need to see.

Martinelli, Pepe and Ozil?
It will be like Ronaldo, Ozil and De Maria at Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid where they do not get into each way; and are intelligent enough to pass and move and create that split-second of opening for Ozil to find them.
The point is that Laca, Auba, Martinelli and Pepe are not coached to "pass and move" with Emery not articulated enough to communicate to them what he meant by "high tempo high pressing" game which in a nutshell comprises attacking full-backs and when ball is lost, quickly regrouped and flood the midfield in our half to protect zones and waiting for opponents to misplace a pass and them launched a swift counter-attack.
But we do not have a Maddison to launch swift counter-attack to Vardy and Perez.
Auba is no Ronaldo at left flank.
neither is Laca is a Benzema in the centre.
Pepe is no De Maria with an engine tor un box to box the whole day.
Oh wait, we do not have an Alonso to protect Ronaldo, who rarely track back nor tackle players.
Nor did we have a Khedira as a double pivot.
All we have is a pale imitation of Alonso-Khedira in Xhaka-Guendouzi or Torreira-Guendouzi or Willock-Guendouzi.
Something is not right here where a raw youngster like Guendouzi is the king-pin of our midfield.
Even a raw teenaged Vieira has a tough battler in Petit as his partner.
The players are confused when Emery demanded "high tempo high pressing" game during training sessions. And when matchday arrived, he switched to slow tempo passing game in our half, slowly searching for an opening, slowly waiting for players to run into position, and all the time insisted that we "protect" the goal and counter-attack only when opponents' attacks broke down.
And Xhaka' style suited Emery's matchday tactics to a tee;
#1 - slow down the tempo;
#2 - keep the ball by passing sideway, backward until a forward player is free to receive a short pass;
#3 - repeat the same procedure again when no player is free and the box is packed;
#4 - when full-backs decided to dash forward, try a long and "accurate lob to their feet" on a wing and prayer;
#5 - And when full-backs and forwards are shunted invariably into blind alley, stay behind to receive a backward pass and then swiftly pass back to centre-backs stationed at half-way line and repeat same cycle as item #1 again to build up plays.
"The idea is to be more unpredictable every year and be more difficult for the opponents to stop and nullify what we want to do. That’s what we have now, especially at the back and in the midfield the options we have, to open up the spaces, we have many more options than we had last year.” Mikel Arteta
