Huge statement from the club they want him out. Can’t see any other reason

Interesting line up considering Emery attaches huge importance to Europa cup. Good to see Holding, Tierney and Bellerin starting. But not sure what AMN can offer on the right side. Might have been better to play Chambers at right back and Bellerin right wing back. Ceballos in the #10 position in place of Ozil supporting Martinelli is a very interesting move by Emery.

Who cares? Would rather give these opportunities to the players who are the future

Why not be upfront about it like they were about other players in the summer then? The wages, man!!

Yeah the club obviously want him out, and I can't blame them personally.

No way is this just Emery.

Emery has come out and said he picks team based on who deserves to be on the pitch and the other players deserved more. It's a clear signal to ozil to leave to play in turkey or rot. I'll be surprised if he is in the match day squad again.

Not even being in the squad for an easy fixture like this after missing other fixtures is a massive statement. I just think with Ozil's quality and wage, being pragmatic he should have been given more of a chance on the pitch as well as the training ground. Or actively marketed in the summer (if that didn't happen).

It's stupid, we are just throwing 350k a week down the drain by not selecting him at all.

I dont think trying to force him out if gonna work unless we loan him out and pay the majority of salary anyway. We still lack creativity so we really should use him when required whilst he's here

Such a toxic situation and one which has been allowed to fester for far too long. Hes almost 31, his best days in terms of consistent performances are a distant memory, if you can ever call his career at Arsenal as being consistent.
His talent has never been in question, his commitment always has been, hes a Goldilocks player, who top coaches have tried unsuccessfully to bring the best out of by both coddling him and cracking the whip.
His signing was symbolic in 2013, our return to competing with the big boys on the transfer front, unfortunately his was never the profile of player that was going to drag us forward with his performances, as Suarez would have been or Alexis did subsequently.
He and his representatives pulled our pants down in Jan 2018, at a time when we were vulnerable and should have been allocating our resources elsewhere.
Ive no sympathy for him, his misunderstood victimised genius holds no water when he had the option to go and play elsewhere over the summer but instead decided to stick around and try outlive Emery whilst collecting massive sums for doing nothing.

I'm all for dumping him but at least try to be honest about it Emery and the board. We are going to pay heavily to get rid of Ozil with no playing time

Pretty sad to let this happen, why not Xhaka or another player.

No way anyone takes his contract, unless we pay most of it, so why even let him go?

Who last longer Emery or Ozil?

The focus on Ozil is because of his status in the game, the wages he is on and the level of talent he possesses but has never fully delivered on.
We can criticize the likes of Xhaka and Mustafi in terms of their performances and the silly money we spent on them, but their failings are that neither are at the required level to play for a club like us and havent developed to the level expected since we signed them.
As for who will last longer, if Emery doesn't get top4 hes gone, and hopefully Ozil follows him out the door as well.

If Emery picks teams on ‘who deserves to be on the pitch’, then why does Xhaka play week in week when he’s f.cking terrible?

It’s application during training that he uses as a measurement.
Allegedly Xhaka is brilliant in training, but penalties probably aren’t awarded during training.

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Well we should sign Mo Farah in that case then as he’d train harder, be fitter, do more yards than everyone else put together.

Doesn’t matter that he can’t play football to save his life when it comes to match day, but he trains hard.

Well if Mo Farah was lazy in training he wouldnt have won the races he won

With that kind of training, ozil was close to the best player on the pitch along with Aubameyang away to watford.

Just losing possession once i think and creating a lot of chances in the process.

Before emery took over, ozil, ramsey would consistently figure in the top 3 players by distance covered in each match for arsenal.

Yes ozil had more sprints and covered more ground than sanchez. Sanchez would not even be in the top 5.

Ramsey /ozil used to make the most off the ball runs while the rest of the team would just get into sideways receiving positions and be static.
I understand if u need to do a defensive job and the primary job of ur nos 10 is to press and defend the opposing nos 8 (how mourinho used oscar), then yes ozil is not your player.

He also had 15 assists by Dec in the Leicester season i think, the highest ever in epl history for the whole season was 19 at that point.

Yes he doesn't tackle but does get into defensive positions much more than pepe.

Lazy is not the right word. Poor defensively yes. You can watch the first half against watford again if you want to see who is making what kind of runs and stretching the opposition / is our primary out ball in that game.

One example is the link below. I'm can see him making more runs than most of our players still like ceballos /xhaka of course, even Lacazette. Aubameyang as well but he is anyway a poacher.

Not sure what can be the managers end game here. Ozil is hardly the sort of personality to fight back. It's really poor man management unless he thinks ozil is a bad influence on the squad

I think he must have called him (as Merl would put it) dumbfcuk of a manager. It can be a bad influence if it encurages half or the squad to call him that way.
