That is a big time blow for him and Liverpool as well. That is a horrible injury. Even when he recovers he won't be the same.

Say what you like about Wenger but he was spot on about these kind of challenges need punishing but he was told by the English media he's a moaner.

I've heard some English pundits saying it wasn't malicious. These dumb idiots ain't got a clue!

Pickford should be banned for the season. Would probably help Everton if he was considering how s hit he is!

Atrocious challenge.

Offside or not Pickford should be punished heavily.

Apparently causing a 9 month injury isn't "endangering an opponent".

One of the worst VAR decisions so far.

Extremely reckless challenge from Pickford. The usual claptrap that it wasn't malicious, or hes not that type of player and he helps his gran with her shopping being rolled out.

Thing is he is that type of player, did the exact same thing to Dele Alli a couple of seasons ago and got away with it then as well. It may not premeditated malice, but its recklessly endangering the safety of his opponent by flying out at that force into the challenge.

Unfortunately Pickford seems as thick as two short planks, you could ban him for 5 games or a season and he would still make the same challenge again.

With no retrospective ban forthcoming now, perhaps the best punishment for Everton will be to have an even more wound up and under scrutiny Pickford throwing them in from all angles.

Liverpool and City are both more vulnerable this year, and the other bigger clubs also have their issues to sort out. If Arteta can keep us solid and get us scoring enough goals to win matches (!) we could have our best league season for ages. Got to keep Saka in the 11!

Totally agree.
Just don't get how FA say once VAR & Ref have given decision that's it.
Offsides, Pens etc yes but for that they have to act.
Could have finished his career.

This puts Everton as title contender this season. (Sm159)

I think you're right Sandy. Very open this year. It's a nightmare over in fantasy football!

This will be a good test of Klopp's managerial skills to compensate for the loss of his key defender.

I don't think you can compensate for the lack of VVD for the best part of the season. He is not only their top defender, but as we saw against us, his pinpoint long balls out of defense are a important weapon in their attacking armory as well.

Liverpool will still win the league. No one is at their level even with the best defender on the planet.

Reminds me of United when Keane got injured for the season. They couldn't replace him.

Pickford is an animal though. Makes up for his lack of talent by being loud and full of "English Spirit." He should be playing for Stoke he fit right in amongst those scumbags.

I remember a awful challange he done on Sanchez too, while he was playing for us.

The guy will get what's coming to him, trying to hurt players is cowardly.

Van Dijk, Arnold and Robertson is what seperates Liverpool from teams like City, Chelsea etc.

Makes a big big difference offensively. Not even going to mention what a colossal loss it is defensively.

It could work in the favour as teams might try to attack them more which would help them in counter attacks.

Even without Van Dijk they're clear of everyone in my opinion.
