I'm going, but I will be fashionably late/miss kick-off. 1501

Are you allowed to bring the dog? If so, do they count?

edit.... Would love to see the stewards trying to catch my collie-cross if she got on the pitch chasing the ball! smiling smiley

Not a tempting fixture. The U21's are hardly going to pull in the crowds. So how many will actually want to go, and pay for this game ? Very few I would have thought ? Anything over 600 would be a bonus !

I wonder at what point participating in this competition becomes loss-making. The sponsorship income must be pitiful for a game like this.

for the man city game last season the attendance was just 750 and man city brought just 47 fans. so I will guess the attendance will be approx. 650.

I think money wise we do quite well if we qualify for next stage.more than the league cup

The worthiness of the competition seems to have gone right downhill since the introduction of the academy sides..Mind you, saying that, the final had 85,000 at Wembley last season Pompey v Sunderland..

I get all of that but I am looking forward to seeing some of the young players get game.... assuming they do?
Walker- Rice and Spellman looked good when I saw them last year - ok they may not be L1 but they need to get games against decent players and see how they do...
Attendance lets go for 751...

Don't we have to play at least most of the team that played in the last league game or player's that are in the first team squad.

If we play less than a set number we would get fined for playing a weaker side but Premiership sides can play their U21's this gives them a workout against League teams for the benefit of their development but League team's if they play their U21's it's most likely a fine.

The whole set up now is for the Premiership to keep them happy they pull the string's the EFL jump.

i have just found out that even though this is our first game in this competition this season if we win tonight we will be through to the next round and aston villa u21 will be out because they lost the first match in this group 2-0 away at Salford city. with the top 2 teams going through from each group this group could be settled tonight.

also if we win tonight - that means the Salford city home match is basically a dead rubber of a match because both teams will be through already.
