Freddie suggested that the band changed its name to Queen after he joined I believe, so I think it very fair to suggest that Smile was a previous name for Queen. Admittedly Deacon wasn't in the band at that point, but he didn't join for a while I think.

Ah, Dire Straits. I knew Cafe Racer rang a bell. Never heard of Skynyrd being called One Percent though. Was listening to Curtis Loew yesterday as well. Really under rated song that one.

If I could hand pick my own band, I'd have the following

Kim Deal - Bass
Donita Sparks - Vocals/Guitar
Wendy James - Vocals/dancing about
Darcy Wretsky - Bass
Leah Shapiro - Drums
Howard Jones - Keyboards lol

It would probably be me and Donita writing the songs. And we would get married and stuff.
Wendy, Kim et al would likely just be my girlfriends. Howard Jones can babysit and do as he's told

Fair enough then; I was unaware he had ever said that, so I am more than willing to believe Queen were some kind of evolution of Smile.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Nice one Kav, that would be a great band..I would probably go for the twin guitar attack in a well strung heavy blues/rock group...

Paul Rodgers - vocals
Rory Gallagher - guitar
Roy Buchanan - guitar
Jack Bruce - bass
Brian Downey - drums

Its just a shame that 3 of them are now 6 feet under...

And Bob Seger coming out on stage to lend a helping hand to Paul Rodgers on vocals..

Wasn't Paul Simon the guitarist of the two and Garfunkel just the vocals? Maybe backing vocals/harmonies but not sure that would work with Bruce.
