Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would bring up the subject of referees.
Jai Jai had warned us about Boyeston and we had our own experience at Sunderland (and over the years). We can add to this Andy Haines and Kettle, all who have been on the league list for over 10 years and if anything are worst than went they started.
Tony Harrington (the ref against Accy) who missed two blatant penalties, was in charge of Leeds v Cardiff and gave Leeds a very dubious penalty. Unfortunately, without the officials we have no games but, the standard IMO is worse, I thought getting back into the league and it would improve (how wrong I was)
Assessors seem a pointless exercise because, if they watched some of the clowns in our games they would never referee again
comments please?

Some would say naively ross, id say stupidly, you could see what sort of mood the ref was in therefore dont give him anything to penalise you by. He plays well in spurts but needs to get rid of the attitude. You were happy to sign for a league 1 club Corey so get on with it.
Ross will never say anything negative about the team or the club. I’d love to live in his world, but unfortunately I live in a real one. This is the worst I’ve seen us in over 40 years. That said, I do think it was a tad OTT being sent off for something every player does, but if you don’t give the ref the opportunity, then you don’t walk.
Not sure how you know me so well to garner that much information...Mum??
Worst team in 40 years, got the facts to back that statement?

I pondered that very question myself this week Boredrover . The feel good factor ,pride in the team .togetherness etc has fast evaporated ,the team is full of journeymen so by nature don’t have an infinity with club or history ,it’s just a club to get them by ,when they join and have their usual picture taken with the aloft raised scarf ,they are probably thinking ,it’s not even cashmere, my Rovers contained the likes of Thomas, Brennan Higgins Nevin, Aldridge ,Steel Malkin etc .but unfortunately the demise of the reserve sides has seen the end of home bred talent ,,a while ago i was thought of and probably still thought of as Mr Negative ,then I think it was Devon Exile who suggested i had been scarred by years of let downs and he was right it’s always been the same ,promise much but fail to deliver 3 playoff finals for PL 1 beaten by Notts county for League 1 a few thousand miles loads of time and money ,been to them all ,now history repeating itself, done the hard bit , now watch it fall apart I understand since those heady days the world and football has changed ,the PL has ruined football with the foreign mercenaries and stupid money and the small clubs the heart of a lot towns and cities can sink as far as they are concerned Mp is a really good guy and doing his best but is swimming against the tide ,the truth is we got promoted to soon ,no chance to build so now we are stuck with a team who are simply not good enough ,money wasted on mediocre players ,we are going down but not to perturbed as League 2 is where we belong to rebuild ,it also gives the powers that be an insight to the fact what it takes to move upwards MP already knows, he did not get time to plan for it .the manager ? Not for me ,but time will tell

If anyone hasn't seen highlights of the game here are a few from Lincoln Vitals site.
I did say it would be a tight game to call the result, they always are.
Carl Boyeson is a dreadful Ref.
Our No 12 is an 18yr old Ellis Chapman who seems to be able to hold is place in the team this season, as Michael Appleton likes young players in the team & will try to bring the average age down as he continues as manager for City.

The standards of refs is very poor and officials in general ,the exception is the woman linesman in the PL her name eludes me ,but she is brilliant always spot on ,none of her decisions ever been questioned ,time to move her up to Ref ?

The standard of ref is the same for everyone including Wycombe, Ipswich etc

On a thread entitled "Lincoln away" it'd be nice to hear a few more reports and opinions from people who actually watched us at Lincoln away. Just for balance really.
And commiserations to those who tried to attend but were let down by our wonderful rail network, which I too had a bellyful of yesterday (though I wasn't going to Lincoln).

Here is a list of how City fans have rated the Refs and also what they thought and think of Carl Boyeson as a Ref.
And also their opinion of Boyeson on his Reffing of the game between our 2 teams yesterday.

Nightmare of a train journey to the game yesterday, our 10:49 out of Piccadilly to Sheffield terminated in the middle of nowhere at New Mills Station and returned to Piccadilly, luckily an Imps fan sat in front of us managed to speak with Northern assist on his mobile, they immediately booked him a paid taxi to Sheffield over the Snake Pass, we jumped in with him, I saw a Rovers fan in a blue bobble get on the train a few stops earlier, went looking for him but to no avail, journey was a bit scary and by this time we knew trains to Lincoln weren’t running, on arrival at Sheffield they booked us a 2nd paid taxi getting us to the ground at 2:50 by the skin of our teeth, Lincoln are a totally changed team now Cowley is not there, both teams were pretty toothless and unfortunately they took their chance, game spoiled once again by Boyeson, how he never gave us the penalty in the last minute only he knows, straight forward journey home on the Wirral at 10:10pm, tired today.
I was on the 1028 from Stockport-due to connect with the 1137 from Sheffield to Lincoln. Eventually got to Sheffield at 1335 knowing that the 1337 to Lincoln which was due to arrive at 1449 had been cancelled due lack of staff. No individual or train company had a solution other than''get the next one''.That would have arrived at 1549 [half time] which, coupled with the 15-20 minutes walk, would have got us to the ground after the second half had started.
This is before we were reduced to ten men.
I decided to come back to Stockport and left Sheffield shortly after half two.
So it wasn't the greatest of awaydays-far from it.
So I didn't find out whether the Lincoln stewards had improved from their appalling treatment of us last season.Probably a good thing.

Boyeson just happens to be the worst referee in the League . He had 4 or 5 big decisions to make and got every single one wrong. I felt we were the better side till the sending off. BT's first booking was extremely harsh whilst their first booking should have been a red card. There was a lot some of the Lincoln players got away with in the 2nd half which could have brought further punishment but Boyeson was too lazy to do anything. how he failed to see the clear foul in the last minute beggars belief. He was either dishonest or incompetent or probably both.
It would be interesting to see the assessor's report but of course that is not possible. Let it be said that the performance was appalling atrocious and wilful. I said 3 days before the match that he was the worst ref in the League and yesterday's performance only confirms that. I spoke to Mark and Nicola after the match and they rightfully were pretty livid by yesterday's events.
Rovers deserved a point but again didn't get it so there are some worrying times ahead. I believe we will pull clear but we need to start scoring goals soon.
Just as an aside do we remember Boyeson's performance against Lincoln city a couple of years ago when he sent Norwood off for celebrating scoring!

I respect the opinions about the paucity of the squad and comments that it's the worst ever , and lack of spirit .I admit I had a break in attendance at games from early 70s to late 90s but Micky Adam's must surely be considered worse than the current squad As for the complaints of lack of spirit , the comeback to win the cup replay at Wycombe and yesterday 's effort when according even to Lincoln fans we should have been awarded a penalty.or two .It seems they deserved at least a point yesterday !

The trouble is that there's no chance of getting a refund on the match ticket. And I'm not even sure about the return leg of the rail ticket.

Re your last sentence-that was Andy Haines [IMO the worst ref] who sent Norwood off.

Its not constant negativity, when we play well I say so. And its absolutely not referees faults we loose games, its just an easy excuse pedalled by managers. Steve Bruce was whining yesterday about the same thing when reality was Newcastle were shite. If its ok by you I was fortunate enough to get a free invite to a box courtesy of a friend.

Thanks Hoots Mon.
My mistake! they are 2 of a kind. Like peas in a pod and both as bad as each other! What's the betting we get Haines before the end of the year! No doubt he will spoil someone's Christmas!

Apart from saying, "Touche" I'm unsure how Hoots can reply to that
Nicely done
