No he wanted Nzonzi as the big unit at the base of the midfield, to head the ball away and to instigate play from that area. Thankfully he didn't get his wish given his career trajectory since.

We have three players in Xhaka, Guendouzi and Torreira, each of who have their attributes (passing range/physicality, engine/creativity and tackling ability) but no one player who encompasses all those attributes.
Having to mix and match the three central players to compensate for the others weakness is costing us both going forward and defensively. Adding Ceballos into that mix has just made the equation even more convoluted. Until we sufficiency replace Ramsey and remove Xhaka from the first team were not going to keep suffering from a dysfunctional midfield.
