Honours Even at Craven Cottage

Steve Evans was unlucky not to come away with all three points from his first game in charge away at Fulham after a much improved performance from the Mighty Whites. 

Chris Wood's 64th minute penalty equalised for United after Dembele had put the hosts in front after 23 minutes with one of their two shots on target. Leeds were on top throughout forcing a string of fine saves from Fulham goalkeeper Joe Lewis, who was deservedly named Man of the Match.

After a run of 3 straight defeats new boss Evans was hoping to see some passion from his Leeds side and they delivered with a much improved performance. Lewis Cook had an outstanding match while Sam Byram looked much more comfortable than he has done in previous weeks. 

Leeds had 8 shots on target but needed a penalty following a Dembele handball to get off the mark and, although they looked like threatening in the latter stages, were unable to take advantage of their dominance. 

Steve Evans said he was "disappointed not to win but very proud of the performance" while Fulham boss Kit Symonds acknowledged his side were lucky to escape with a point. 

Leeds move on to 12 points but remain in 18th place with their next match a trip to bottom-placed Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
