Trapa's men get relatively easy Euro's Group
The Gaffer

With the distaste of the Henry incident still lingering in our throats, we now have a reason to smile again. The draw for the Euro 2012 Championships has looked upon us favourably. Being placed alongside Russia, Slovakia, Macedonia, Armenia and Andorra. Some might raise an eyebrow or two at the pairing with the memorable Macedonians, but surely this group is as good as we could have hoped for?
The strongest team, seeded wise, is of course the Russians. But having failed to qualify for the WC and looking at recent runs of form, they look to be quite a beatable opponent. Slovakia, who qualified for the WC, also look like a very beatable team. With these two our main contenders it would seem for the top spot, it is hardly suprising we have been placed at 3/1 to top the group and succeed in automatic qualification. A bet that might well be worth a flutter!
The Irish fans can look forward to some long journeys for the away legs however, with the most appetising surely being the Andoran adventure, which one would imagine will be played in Barcelona as it was a few years back now.
The Armenians, the Andorans and, although I shudder as i say it in case of a jinx, the Macedonians, all should be easy points. This group will without doubt be decided on the results of the other 3 teams against each other.
The last thing we want is another dreaded play-off situation, we all know how they can hurt.
We will look, in the coming weeks, at our opponents in more depth and also we will look at the squad possibilities, even though it is a bit off, it is now that Trap will be looking to see the stars of our campaign.

Hope not.We need to qualify for a major tournament soon or we could drop as low in the rankings as other s-hitty nations like........................Wales.
