So..... The Premier League Returns
So after the best part of three months we move towards the return of Premier League Football - at last for those of us who have felt particularly deprived!! The 2019-20 season is due to recommence on Wednesday 19th June with Man City vs Arsenal and Aston Villa vs Sheffield United the first games to be played.
'This day in history' 1st May 2002
Another small article to stimulate the memory cells! Not a great memory this time around but maybe a catalyst for what was to come the following season? On 1st May 2002, Wolves played Norwich City in the second leg of the play off semi final. Of course, this was to become our last match of the season, a season which promised everything but at the death, gave only torcher and heartbreak for all Wolves fans.
10 Goal Thriller at Molineux!!! 18th April 2014
When I left home on this Good Friday morning (6 years ago today) my personal record goals witnessed at a match was seven. Wolves 4 -3 Leicester 03/04, a couple of Argyle matches versus Peterborough and Chesterfield and even an Albion match in 1986 when Bully scored twice for them - at the Hawthorns (there's an explanation!!). Little did I realise that as I got on the A38 / M5 on that easter holiday morning that would all change which is still, for me, to be beaten. And to cap it all, the first 30,000 plus crowd at Molineux for many a year (30,110).
Derek Parkin played at left back for Wolves during the 70's and 80's and was a member of the teams whichwon the League Cup in both 1974 and 1980
Another Nuno article and 'This day in History'
First of all, my good wishes to all reading this, wherever you are. Keep well, keep safe. No sport, no football continues. I have found another Nuno article, this time from the BBC with the link below. It's another good write up, with comments from Hassan 'Kouka' Ahmed, the Braga centre forward on loan to Olympiakos, who came across Nuno during the players days at Rio Ave when Nuno was Manager. It's another decent, complimetary read of our fabulous Manager! Click on the 'BBC article' link below.
15th March 1980: League Cup Final Wolves v Nottingham Forest
It was 40 years ago! Hard to believe that today marks the 40th anniversary of the last time Wolves won a major trophy - the league cup. Who would have thought all these years later we would have still been waiting for our next?
Match Thread: Olympiacos Piraeus vs Wolves
Wolves have travelled to Piraeus, Athens seeking to further their adventure in this season's Europa League and reach the Quarter Final stage. However they know that this two-leg challenge will be far from easy against the team which beat Arsenal at the Emirates two weeks ago.
Last week an excellent article was published in the Telegraph about our manager NES. It's a great read and gives a little background into the man and what makes him tick. With media, in cricketing terms, Nuno usually plays a great 'straight bat' but here, provides some real answers.
Match Thread: Wolves vs Brighton & HA
On paper Wolves face an enormous opportunity to wake the rest of the football world up and note their presence today as they entertain Brighton and Hove Albion at Molineux
Match Thread: Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolves
Wolves make their first visit to the new Tottenham Hotspur stadiuum today, seeking to repeat their triumph over the North London club achieved at Wembley last season, and in the knowledge that three points could potentially lift the club into fifth place in the Premier League.
