Wolves Run Ended

Wolves` great run of 10 games without defeat came to a bitter end when a goal either side of Half Time ensured Coventry all the points.

Dave Jones opted to change the team and formation of a team which had preformed well against Norwich and lifted Wolves to 7th in the League after a 10 game undefeated run.

 The only forced change was for Paul Ince who failed to make the squad following a minor operation to remove a toe nail.

 Wolves - Murray, Edworthy, Irwin, Clyde, Lescott, Andrews, Ince, Cameron, Kennedy, Miller, Cole.

 The formation Jones decided to play with looked lop-sided. It appeared that Wolves were playing with 3 central midfielders (Rae Cameron and Andrews) with one left winger in Mark Kennedy, it appeared that Wolves were playing without a right-winger, a decision which came without much support from the Molineux faithful who believed that the side should not have been changed, especially after such a great run.

 And, on 8 minutes, the lack of Wolves creativity paid off as Gary McAllister shot hard and low into the bottom corner of the net to the surprised but happy handful of Coventry Supporters.

 Wolves went close on many occasions but the only shot on target in the first half was from a tame Carlton Cole header.

 The Second Half started much like the first, Wolves had chance after chance but were unable to hit the target, and again Wolves were made to pay for the lack of creativity as Partridge curled the ball into the net - again to the delight of the Coventry few.

 Dave Jones added Cooper and Sturridge in the second half at the expense of Andrews and Miller but neither made any impact on the game.
