Police Fear More Violence.

Wolves have received a bad reputation for trouble after games this season so the Police have decided to take no chances in the FA Cup game against Newcastle United next month.

Wolverhampton Police are to drag extra officers into the City on January 5th when Wolves fans are set to clash with Newcastle United fans as the teams meet in the FA Cup on a Live game screened by Sky Sports.

 Police are keen to avoid trouble which has raised its ugly head after far too many Wolves games this season.

They believe that alcohol may be the cause of any possible trouble and Wolverhampton football liaison officer Pc Clive Whitfield told the E&S

"We have been looking at a relatively quiet Christmas period with the exception of the Newcastle game at Molineux on January 5.

"There is not a history of trouble with the club but fans have a reputation as being hard drinkers and it could be that we see some alcohol-related problems."

 He said feelings were more likely to run high when people had been drinking heavily. Fans went on the rampage earlier this year after games against Sheffield United and Stoke.

 Reports suggest that up to a 1,000 Wolves fans went on the rampage after the loss against Sheffield United a few months ago.

 All 7,000 tickets on General Sale have been sold.
