Calmed Wolves Fight

A BRIEF REPORT: Portsmouth 1 Wolves 0....

Dave Jones was expected to start the game against Portsmouth with the same team which beat Reading on Wednesday night, but with overnight injuries to Lescott (groin), Butler (head), Naylor (Virus) and Blake (head) Wolves had to give starts to Pollet, Clyde, Edworthy and Sturridge, Jones also dropped Newton for Alex Rae.

 Wolves lined up with Murray in goal, Edworthy, Clyde, Pollet, and Irwin behind Kennedy, Ince, Rae, Cameron who supported an attack of Kenny Miller and Dean Sturridge.

 However it was Pompey who took the lead after just 3 minutes. The Wolves back four just opened up as Steve Stone ran 30yrds before seeing his shot deflected by Murray into the back of net.

Wolves settled down and the back four proved they were good replacements for the Injured three however Wolves only troubled Hislop in the Pompey goal once and that was from a week Irwin Free Kick.

 The Second half was bossed by Wolves, and although Wolves had nearly all the play they were still unable to trouble the big Portsmouth Keeper. The game was played mostly in midfield, with Todorov having the only notable shot in the Second Half.

Portsmouth Captain Paul Merson stepped in to calm down Shaun Newton and Kenny Miller who both squared up to each other in the second half.
