Toon boss Bobby Robson is believed to have sat down and thought about the deal, but come to the conclusion that with Craig Bellamy's looming suspension that would leave Newcastle with only three strikers.

Wolves were looking at Cort to fill in if injury set in to his forward line up , but that has been dashed and there was no activity unlike last season at Molineux.

Michael Branch will not have his contract renewed as we all knew anyway and will leave Wolves on a free transfer.
