Wolves Fans are already starting to panic, the start to the first Premiership Season has been terrible, but yesterdays opponents Southampton had an even worse start to a season...and Survived.

There is no getting away from the fact that this season, so far, has been a complete and utter disaster. Wolves lost their first game of the season 5-1 to a Blackburn side hungry for goals. Wolves lost their second game 4-0 to a Charlton Side who secured their biggest away win for a number of years. Wolves had conceded 9 goals from 2 games and then traveled to Old Trafford. A gutsy performance sore United score just one goal as Wolves were condemned to their third defeat of the season. Another average performance had Wolves gain their first point of the season against Portsmouth before losing yesterday to Southampton. Wolves have only scored one goal all season, Wolves have lost 4 of their first 5 games, Wolves have conceded 12 goals, but one team, Southampton, once got off to a worse start, they survived, and whats more, their Manager was a certain Mr Dave Jones. In 1998 Southampton took just one point from their first eight games. It was October 24th before the Saints first won a match, and by mid-december they only had 10 points from 17 fixtures. Somehow saints managed to Survive. Not only did they survive, they did so in great fashion, surviving by 5 points. Wolves have just one point from 5 games, Wolves also have a host of players missing, and if Jones can do it at Southampton, why won`t he be able to do it at Molineux? It`s not all doom and gloom.... |
