Mark Kennedy was shattered today to hear that he has been ruled out of the World cup by the re-occurrence of his groin injury.....

Mark Kennedy is out of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup squad with a groin injury and has been replaced by Steven Reid of Millwall.

Kennedy, who is 26 today, was named in boss Mick McCarthy's original 23-man squad last week on the condition that he proved his fitness during Niall Quinn's testimonial when the Republic took on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last night.
He only returned to first-team action in the final league fixture of the season against Sheffield Wednesday and, despite opening the scoring and playing 84 minutes in a 3-0 win for the Irish, Kennedy will not be involved in McCarthy's squad.

From all at Wanderers Way we wish you a speedy recovery Sparky.
