Wolves Latvian Target, Maris Verpakovskis has said that, should he leave his current club Skonto Riga, he would like to sign for Lazio, despite hot interest from Molineux.

Latvian Target, Maris Verpakovskis has said that, should he leave his
current club Skonto Riga, he would like to sign for Lazio, despite hot
interest from Molineux.
Maris Verpakovskis has
already been seen in the Old Gold of Wolverhampton Wanderers, but any
chance of seeing him in the Gold Shirt again have been dented by
the strikers impressive form. The Latvian Striker was with
Wolves on trial in the summer and even scored for Wolves after coming on
as a substitute in the home 2-0 win against Boavista in the final
friendly game. Jones has contacts at Skonto
Riga and has admitted that he has been keeping tabs on Verpakovskis who
he once dubbed as "Better than Pahars", one of the greatest
foreign imports ever made by Jones. The Latvian Striker however
has scored in his last two games for Turkey and has now stated that he
would love to go and play at Lazio. Verpakovskis said "If I
could choose, I would prefer to play for Lazio. "But the most important thing
is that I join a club where I can continue to play regularly." Whether Lazio are interested
or not is another matter, but if Jones does whish to sign him in the
January transfer window then he must be sure that he moves quickly. Source:
