Believe it or not, this was not a bad performance from Wolves. Clinical finishing being the key difference between the two teams. Wolves could have earned a point only for terrible finishing, something we need to learn how to do if we stand any chance of staying in this league. Ex Wolves Starlet Robbie Keane received a superb reception from the 3,000 traveling Wolves Fans, but the young Irish star scored three times to condemn Wolves to their second 5 goal thumping in less than a week. There must be something about teams from the Capital. Charlton scored 4 past Wolves whilst Chelsea, Arsenal and now Spurs have all smashed 5 goals past Michael Oakes in the Wolves goal. It took Tottenham 30 minutes for them to score the first on Saturday. A ball looped over the Wolves defence was latched on to by Robbie Keane who lashed the ball home from 8yrds. The lead lasted less than a minute. Mark Kennedy won the ball on the edge of the Spurs penalty area and Ince latched on to it and swept the ball into the left hand corner. Wolves then should have gone into the break one goal to the good. However, somehow Paul Ince managed to miss a header from just 4yrds, heading it straight at the Keeper. That late miss would come to haunt Wolves as it was 2-1 to the North London side within 5 minutes of the restart. Darren Anderton crossed the ball for Freddie Kanoute who angled his header past Oakes into the net. Wolves then had two glorious chances to make it level. First Sturridge missed after doing all the hard work after cutting in from the left hand side. Things were not going right for Wolves, and that was not about to change. Sturridge put the ball on a plate for Camara, but somehow he managed to clear the ball over the bar from 3yrds just 2 minutes after the first miss. Wolves
were made to pay. Keane scored another two, winning his hat-trick and
Delmat scored a stunner in the last minute to make it ten goals conceded
in 180 minutes of football for Dave Jones` men. |
