Chief Executive Jez Moxey is unhappy that the game between Wolverhampton
Wanderers and Liverpool Football Club was postponed today. Torrential
rain has dogged the Midlands all day. Games at Wolverhampton,
Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Derby County and Shrewsbury have all been
called off. However,
Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey was unhappy with the decision of
referee Barry Knight who called the game off at 1.30 today. "We
understand that the referee has a difficult decision to make but from
what I saw of the forecast there is due to be no more rain this
afternoon, although we have been deluged since 5am." Said Moxey. "I
can see why, at the time of making this decision, the referee felt the
game couldn`t take place but we feel that by 3pm the pitch would have
been playable".
"Everyone wanted to play, it was a big game for both sides and
perhaps if officials had waited a little longer to carry out the
inspection it would have been a different story. But, in these
situations my opinion doesn`t matter"
