Wolves Chairman Rick Hayward
has revealed that the club had no idea of what was needed to ensure
survival in the Premier League.
Wolves spent very little in
the Summer Transfer Window and Wolves are now being forced to pay for
their lack of investment.
The lack of investment came
as a shock to the Football World and Wolves have added just one player,
Vio Ganea, so far in the January Transfer Window.
Speaking ahead of Tuesdays
FA Cup clash with Kidderminster Harriers, Wolves Chairman Rick Hayward
admitted that the club had miscalculated what it would to take to ensure
survival - Rick Hayward being only a director in the summer having only
recently taken over the reigns of Chairman from father Sir Jack Hayward.
"I have to be honest,
we underestimated the task we had going from Division One to the
Premiership and didn't invest the money we should have," Rick
Hayward said.
"We were late getting
going in the transfer market and didn't get the pick of the pack. We
didn't actually have any idea what was needed. We didn't put aside
enough money. We didn't have it but we should have found it."
"We are trying desperately to get as many players in as we can
during the transfer window, but it is very hard to build a team to
compete in the Premiership in the few months we get to buy and sell
players." Said the Chairman.
Rick Hayward has also been
quoted in the press as saying that he is finding attracting players to
Wolves difficult.
