Wolverhampton Wanderers today
pulled off one of the greatest shocks in Premiership History - A Kenny
Miller goal was enough to earn Wolves a superb win over Premiership
Champions Manchester United.
It was a result which will shock
everyone, but it`s true, Wolverhampton Wanderers, who before kick off
were rock bottom of the Premiership have beaten Manchester United 1-0.
It is nice to beat the
Champions, but to make it that little bit sweeter, the result should be
rammed down the throats of some of the TV Pundits who, time after time,
write Wolves off.
"Wolves are as good as
relegated already." Rodney Marsh told SKY Sports, before adding
"They just haven't got to grips with playing in the Premiership as
a game against a Manchester United side in full flow, will prove."
The score line may suggest
that Sir Alex rested some of the Manchester United players, but that was
not the case.
Howard, Neville, Ferdinand,
O`Shea, Silvestre, Keane, Fletcher, Scholes, Fortune, Van Nistlerooy,
Ronaldo.
That was the side which was sent
out for United, but although they should have torn Wolves apart, they
failed to even breech the Wolves defence once.
Wolves had to defend like
their life depended on it and had to sustain huge spells of United
Pressure, but it is Wolves who claimed the three points.
A Kenny Miller goal, which
was well placed and deserved was the difference between the two sides,
but Ince nearly opened the scoring a few minutes after the break, but
his 25yrd strike hit the post.
Oakes made some heroic
saves, as expected, but Wolves were able to hang on to claim one of the
greatest wins in Premiership History.
