Wolverhampton Wanderers have
agreed a fee with Newcastle United for their Striker Carl Cort, who will
become the second January signing shortly.
Jones has already signed Romanian
International Striker Vio Ganea in the January Transfer Window, and Carl
Cort is due to sign on the dotted line either tonight or tomorrow, in time
for Saturdays game with West Ham United.
A deal with Newcastle,
believed to be around £1.5M has been accepted and the player is simply
completing his personal terms, after passing a medical at Molineux on
Wednesday.
"The chairman rang me
yesterday to say he'd accepted what he felt was a goodish offer for Carl
Cort, but we're just waiting for further developments," said
Newcastle United Manager Robson.
"If he goes, I wish him well. I
bought Carl Cort, I'll stand up for my judgement on Carl Cort, and I hope
Carl Cort, if he goes, does really well"
"He will prove to be a
Premiership player and he might kick us in the teeth one day - and I hope
he does."
Newcastle United signed Cort
from Wimbledon almost four years ago for £7M and the Striker been dogged
by serious injury problems.
"That boy has gone from one
horrendous injury to another. He never gave me one moment - not a minute,
I said a moment - of problems. We tried to keep him going with one injury
on to another. He had a hazardous time, poor kid, went from one serious
injury to another. He's not a hypochondriac, they were genuine
injuries." Said Robson
