William Ambrose Wright, CBE.

Born in Ironbridge, Shropshire on 6 February 1924, Billy Wright was and still is one of the greatest ever players to pull on the gold shirt of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Billy Wright held up an FA Cup and three league titles before hanging his boots up at the end of the 1959 season. He was awarded a CBE in 1959 and made 105 England Caps, whilst captaining his country 70 times.

He made a massive 541 appearances for Wolves, scoring 16 goals.
