SAINTS MANAGER Paul Sturrock was
understandably delighted with Southamptons performance at Molineux on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Dave Jones has told his Wolves players to "keep going".
Paul Sturrock was understandably delighted
in the post-match press conference today whilst Wolves Manager and former Saints
boss Dave Jones was in a subdued mood after seeing his side thrashed at home.
A 72nd Henri Camara goal was not enough to
earn Wolves a point as two late Kevin Phillips goals put the game beyond Wolves
- who now looked confined to relegation.
Wolves Manager Dave
Jones:
"We played too much neat football, too many five-yard passes and I don't understand that because we have enough experience on the park to play ugly at times,"
said Jones.
"How many square balls did we we play today which were cut out? You can't play square balls because they'll be cut out at this level, that's why it's a pass the opposition will invite you to make and that's where we have to be a little bit
cuter."
"Southampton had strikers who gave our back four the runaround in certain parts of the game but they're used to playing at this level and know how to mix their game up.
We didn't mix it up enough but we did get a goal and then had them under pressure. But then we reverted to five-yard football and they go up the other end and score.
"But our cause isn't hopeless and I've told the players we've got to keep going.
We've got to keep plugging away because although we might need other results to go for us we've still got a chance."
Saints Manager Paul Sturrock:
"I've been chipping away at certain of the players to start weighing in with goals - I'd been chipping away at Rory Delap, who scored last week, and I've been chipping away at Claus as well,"
Said Paul Sturrock
"Claus normally goes up as a decoy runner but I've been giving him some stick on the training ground where I call him 'the jersey' because the shirt goes up there but it's as if there's nobody inside it.
He's popped up and scored and I'm very pleased for him but he was at fault for Camara's goal so I'm still going to slap him about a bit."
