UNDER-FIRE Wolves and Wales 'Keeper Paul
Jones has admitted that he was 'surprised' at being left out of the side which
played West Ham at the weekend.
Paul Jones has come under-fire from
sections of the Wolves crowd recently after making several mistakes in games.
Jones was boo'd by the home support during
last months 3-2 home defeat to Cardiff for letting a free-kick slip under him to
hit the post and being partly to blame for the third Cardiff goal.
The Welsh International, who will be facing
England at Old Trafford on Saturday has made several other mistakes during the
season and Wolves Manager Dave Jones opted to leave the 36 year old on the bench
for last weekends trip to West Ham.
"I was surprised by what happened,"
Said the Wolves Goalkeeper.
"It has made me, I suppose, even more determined to do well for Wales - although I always go into every game for my country with that in mind.
"I am a bit long in the tooth to have my confidence knocked when something like this happens. I just intend to go out on Saturday at Old Trafford and do my very best for my country.
"But what has happened has given me that little bit of extra edge as I prepare to play these two internationals."
Michael Oakes, who replaced Jones at West
Ham put in a decent performance and will be expecting to keep Paul Jones out of
the side when Wolves travel to the City Ground a week on Friday.
Meanwhile the other Goalkeeper, Matt
Murray, continued his race back to fitness in last night's 0-0 reserve draw with
Nottingham Forest reserves at Molineux.
