ISAAC Okoronkwo could be returning to
Molineux next week.....with Derby County. The fans favourite impressed in a
reserve outing for the Rams last week and could have done enough to earn himself
a contract.
Okoronkwo's time in England has been
strange and has had the Wolves' Fans and media scratching their heads in
amusement and, at times, disgust.
Okoronkwo was Dave Jones' first signing of
the Premiership season. He was billed as a tall, strong and quick defender. He
was the defender who kept Thierry Henry a bay during his former clubs (Shakhtar
Doetsk) famous Champions League win at Highbury.
As Wolves leaked goal after goal in the
Premiership, Okoronkwo sat in the reserves.
"Give him a chance, he can't be worse
than what we already had" was the cry from the Wolves Fans...Wolves boss
Dave Jones failed to listen.
That was until' Wolves played Manchester
City on April 10th.
In a shock move by Jones, Nigerian
International Isaac Okoronkwo entered the field of play to start his first game
in the Premiership....he had a blinder!
He was deemed good enough by Jones to keep
his place and played every game until the end of the season, getting better and
better.
"Where the hell has he been all
season" the Wolves fans asked about the new gold and black revelation.
However, as the season finished, Okoronkwo
was released by Wolves.
"He is not good enough" was Dave
Jones excuse (Remember, he was deemed good enough to play the last seven games
of the season, when Wolves needed the points the most) and so it was then left.
Wolves started the Championship season with
Bjorklund and Craddock in defence, with NO cover on the bench leaking goal after
goal..again.
Okoronkwo still lives in Wolverhampton and
the Wolves fans still plea for him to be re-signed.
After impressing in a reserve outing for
Derby against Leicester City Okoronkwo could return - to a huge ovation - to
Molineux next week to haunt Wolves.
Dave Jones recently said "Football is
all about opinions and I stand by my decision to let Isaac go."
He then added "Whether I'm right or
wrong will come to light as the season progresses"
Jones has four games to save his
job..........
