Jones Was A Good Friend, Says Chairman.

WOLVES Chairman Rick Hayward - who sacked Manager Dave Jones  - described today as "a sad day" and described Jones as a good friend.

Wolves Chairman Rick Hayward described Jones as a "good friend" who "taught him a lot" at a packed Molineux press conference today.

"Dave taught me a lot. He is a great guy and a good friend." Said Hayward today.

"But this is business. The buck stops with me. We are 19th in the table and that just isn't good enough. How long do you wait? We felt that we couldn't wait any longer."  

Hayward confirmed that Stuart Gray will take temporary charge and confirmed the club are on the hunt for a new manager.

"Stuart Gray has taken over as acting manager and hopefully things will improve."

"It's sad that it's come to this but we must move on and hopefully do better.

"We will be looking for a new manager - hopefully someone who can take us up at the end of the season."
