Wolves today continued the running of positive pre-season news by revealing that Joleon Lescott signed a new 5 year deal with The Molineux club...

Season ticket sales up, Brentfords player of the year on a free and now Lescott signs a new 5 year deal. The summer gets slowly better and better for Wolves fans after this fantastic piece of news.

Lescott, raised from the Youth programme, broke into the first team two years ago when he made his debut in Wolves' opening game against Sheffield Wednesday. He was played due to a shortage of defenders and since then he has been a first team regular putting outstanding performances in week in week out.

Lescott, who wont be 20 until next month, has featured in 90 of the 103 games taken place since his introduction.

And its not only Wolves where he has had an impact. On the international scene too Lescott has put in superb performances and has shown tremendous maturity for such a young age. Capped at Under 20 level it would be no suprise to Wolves fans to see him play for David Platts Under 21 set-up.

Lescott told the official web-site "I’m really happy to have signed and that the club has the confidence in me to carry on what I’ve been doing for them.

"What happened at the end of last season was a bitter disappointment for everyone connected with Wolves. Now, hopefully, we can get it right – that would be the icing on the cake for me"

Meanwhile Wolves have denied reports linking them with a double swoop for Kevin Davies and Chris Mardsen. And Colin Larkin could be set to make a move to Hull City where former Kiddy boss Jan Molby, who took Larkin on loan while at Kiddy, would see the youngster an ideal signing.
