Derby play it cool with Idiakez transfer request

DERBY County have denied reports that their star player Inigo Idiakez has handed in a transfer request amid the interest shown in him by Wolves.

Glenn Hoddle recently admitted that it may be time for Wolves to "move on" to different targets after Derby rejected a third bid from Wolves for the Spanish playmaker.

However SKY Sports News yesterday reported that Idiakez had handed in a transfer request at Pride Park, a report which Derby, unsurprisingly, quickly denied.

However we may be no clearer to the truth after Derby had already denied receiving any bids from the player, despite Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey admitting that three written bids had been submitted.

And only last week Derby Manager Phil Brown was unhappy after admitting "I'm disappointed Wolves have gone public on this and if it was done in an attempt to upset the player, then they've succeeded."

The most likely outcome is that the 31 year old has given a verbal request to the Pride Park Management with Derby boss Phil Brown carefully choosing his words in a statement published on Derby County's Official website.

"He has not submitted a written transfer request to me and, as far as I am concerned, he is going nowhere." Said Brown.
