Colin Cameron Praises Support

Sometimes, its easy to think the players dont hear us, that we arent making a difference. To Colin Cameron we do. Today he thanked the fans for their applause on being withdrawn during the 0-0 draw with Southampton.

"It's nice to know your'e appreciated, but I'd rather stay in the pack." he said

"I had been trying hard and had been enjoying the game, but afterwards Stuart said the Gaffer had felt that three games in a week meant I perhaps needed a break, and he could bring on fresh legs, which is fair enough."

Reffering to Wolves seemingly ever present injury problems he added

"We have more than enough quality in midfield, espescially when you think there is still Rohan Ricketts and Paul Ince to come backinto the squad."

" Darren Anderton returned on Saturdayand I reckon that we've got enough for two midfileds in here once everyone's available. On a personal note teh competition is good because it makes you keep your standards high. I know that if i want to keep my place I've to perform."

Talking of Saturdays performance, Cameron was quick to acknowledge that the team didnt play to its potential for the first 45 minutes.

"We did'nt play well in the first-half, but then we were better after the break. Their 'keeper made a great save from George's header then I thought that Seol's lob was going in, but it went just wide."

The performance of referee Paul Taylor didnt escape his notice either. How could it? Cameron was involved in a contraversial first half incident that saw Wolves denied what most fans thought was a stonewall penalty.

"I also think we should've had a penalty. THe goalkeeper and defender were either side of me and I made contact with the ball. but was then brought down. I don't know if anyone else appealed but I certainly made my feelings known."

Only table topping Reading have a better defensive record than Wolves, but their lack of goals is starting to give cause for worry, as Cameron points out.

"Another clean sheet is good for confidence, and, as a team, we are defensively better than we were earlier in the season, but we have got to get the ball in the back of the net. We've had two games now where we've had no goals and thats disapointing. We can't afford not to pick up points in the coming games if we want to make up ground on the top two."

"Looking at it from the point of view that we want to be getting as many points we can, it would have been better if we'd' have won and then suffered a defeat, but it is a big positive that we have now got four clean sheets in a row."
