WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers have reacted angrily to rumours aired on local radio and discussed on our message board regarding the whereabouts of Striker Leon Clarke prior to the home game with Plymouth Argyle.

A caller on a local radio phone-in following the 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday suggested the young forward had been seen drinking in a City centre bar on Friday night, hours before he was in action for the first team at Molineux.

The same claims were later relayed to "Molineux Way", our message board, but Wolves have moved quickly to quash the rumours.

Leon Clarke was so furious with the rumours that he has brought them to the attention of boss Glenn Hoddle who released a short statement earlier today to clear up the matter.

Speaking to WOW, the clubs official website, Hoddle said : "Leon has been to see me to explain what has been said, where he was on Friday and who he was with. We fully support him and are disappointed that such stories have been aired publicly."

We would like to make it clear that at no point did we back the rumour and further posts on this topic will be removed from our message board.
