Kavanagh Gets Ireland Call
City skipper Graham Kavanagh has been rewarded for his recent performances in the Cardiff shirt, with a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad to face Switzerland away in their final European Championship Qualification Playoff.

Kavanagh, who was recently named City's player of the month for August, has 3 Irish caps to his name, and has scored once in the green shirt in a friendly match against Sweden back in 1999.

The match is vital for the Republic, with three points guaranteeing them a play-off place, and possibly automatic qualification if Russia fail to win their last qualification fixture against Georgia in Moscow.

The full squad, which is made up entirely of British based players, is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Shay Given (Newcastle United), Nick Colgan (Stockport), Joe Murphy (West Bromwich)

Defenders: Gary Breen (Sunderland), Stephen Carr (Tottenham Hotspur), Gary Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur), Steve Finnan (Liverpool), Ian Harte (Leeds United), Andy O'Brien (Newcastle United), John O'Shea (Manchester United)

Midfielders: Lee Carsley (Everton), Damien Duff (Chelsea), Colin Healy (Sunderland), Matt Holland (Charlton Athletic), Graham Kavanagh (Cardiff), Kevin Kilbane (Everton), Mark Kinsella (Aston Villa), Stephen McPhail (Nottingham Forest), Steven Reid (Blackburn Rovers)

Strikers: David Connolly (West Ham), Robbie Keane (Tottenham Hotspur), Clinton Morrison (Birmingham City)

Good Luck to Kavanagh with the Ireland side.
