Neil Alexander was left out of the Scotland match-day squad, as Bertie Vogts side stunned the Netherlands with a fantastic 1-0 victory. James McFadden's 22nd minute strike was the only goal of the game, and leaves the Scots with a superb chance of qualifying for the finals in Portugal.

third in the Scottish 'keeping pecking order, as Scotland stunned the
Netherlands with a shock 1-0 win in the opening leg of their European
Championships' Play-Off at Hampden Park. The Bluebirds shot stopper was not
included on the bench by Bertie Vogts, with Jonathan Gould winning back his
place after being out with injury. James McFadden's 22nd minute strike was the only goal of the game, and leaves the Scots with a superb chance of qualifying for their first major championship since France hosted the World Cup back in 1998. However, the Scots will know what a tough test awaits them in the return leg on Wednesday, with Dutch boss Dick Advocat announcing he will resign from his post if the Tartan Army get through.
