| Rumours are circulating that Lennie
Lawrence is showing interest in Grimsby Town winger Stuart Campbell. The Scotsman has made a big impression at Blundell Park, and it is believed Lawrence could be set to offer £500,000 to his former-club for the services of the Corby-born midfielder. He would undoubtedly be a major loss to Grimsby, who are really struggling since being relegated to the Second Division last season. Paul Groves' club currently sit in 15th in the table, but in a division where only a small number of points seperate the play-off places from the relegation spots, Town could still challenge for a quick return to Division One. Campbell has made over 100 appearances for the Mariners since his £200,000 move from Leicester City 2 years ago, and his performances last season showed that he is a player more than capable of playing First Division football. The club have not admitted to any interest in the 26-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, and any possible move may depend on whether Lennie Lawrence looks to sign Julian Gray on a permanent basis before the end of the season. |
