Cardiff City's defence was torn apart by an inspired Darren Huckerby, as Norwich City continued their superb home form with a 4-1 victory over the Bluebirds. In his last game of a loan spell, Huckerby scored one of the Canaries goals, and made another, with Peter Thorne on target for the visitors.

Cardiff City defence to shreds, as Norwich City cruised to an embarrassingly
easy 4-1 victory over the Bluebirds.
The striker, playing his last game of a loan spell for the East Anglia outfit, left Carrow Road giving the Norwich supporters something to remember him by. Huckerby netted one of Norwich's quartet of goals, and made another as Norwich gained momentum in their Premiership promotion hunt. Peter Thorne scored City's only goal of the game with his head which gave City some hope after being 2-0 down, but the hosts responded in style with the City defence looking very poor at times. Lennie Lawrence made 2 changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Preston North End on Tuesday, with Andy Campbell starting ahead of Mark Bonner as the City boss played an attacking formation. This proved a big mistake. Lawrence was forced to leave out injured veteran John Robinson, so Willie Boland, Richard Langley and Gareth Whalley were the men in the midfield for City. Following an opening period which was largely dominated by the hosts, Norwich took the lead. Darren Huckerby breaking through and coolly slotting the ball passed Neil Alexander after beating Vidmar for pace. Into the second half and the goal scorer turned provider when he laid on Norwich's second for Iwan Roberts. As mentioned above Peter Thorne scored Cardiff's only goal of the game with an excellent header to make it 2-1 but this was much against the run of play. Craig Fleming scored his first goal for over three years to stretch the home side's lead once again, and a miserable afternoon was finished with Vidmar deflecting a Huckerby shot past Alexander. The defeat takes City down to 8th, with the Bluebirds looking to return to form as Millwall visit Ninian Park next Saturday. Can City beat Dennis Wise's Lions?
