FAW Cup Date Announced

The date for the F.A.W Premier Cup quarter-final tie against Newport County has been set. The Bluebirds will face the tough visit to Spytty Park on January 26th. City were knocked out of the competition last season by the Exiles, and we can expect enough hard game this time around.

The Bluebirds will face the tricky visit to Spytty Park on January 26th against the side that knocked us out of the Cup last season. It is not yet known whether or not the game will be selected for live television coverage on BBC Wales, but one tie from each round is usually broadcast.

The complete draw for the last 8 is as follows:

Newport County v Cardiff City
Caersws v Swansea City
Rhyl v BarryTown
T.N.S v Wrexham

In a competition that is snubbed by most City supporters, it's the best draw possible. There is sure to be big interest from Newport fans as they look to cause another shock over their South Wales rivals, and hopefully a few of our fans will make the short journey to a City that is inhabited by many Bluebirds anyway!

Sadly, Lennie Lawrence again looks set to treat the FAW Premier Cup with a distinct lack of respect. The competition will be used for City's fringe players to play competitive action, and some young blood may also be involved. Since the arrival of Sam Hammam, City have always fielded second-rate sides in the Premier Cup. How we can snub the £100,000 is beyond me!
