Jones Squashes City Rumours with Liverpool Move

Rumours that Paul Jones could be on his way to Ninian Park to bolster City's 'keeper list seem to have been squashed with the Welsh number one joining Liverpool on-loan. The news will bring welcome relief to Martyn Margetson and Neil Alexander.

Rumours of Paul Jones joining Cardiff City seem to have been squashed with the Welsh 'keeper joining Liverpool on loan until the end of the season.

The Merseyside outfit are having a real 'keeper crisis this season, with Jerzey Dudek and Chris Kirkland both struggling with injuries, which has left Houllier no choice than to bring in another 'keeper in. The signing of Paul Jones may be a little surprising, but he is an experienced goalkeeper and an excellent shot stopper.

The 37-year-old only has a few seasons maximum left in, with Liverpool making the loan agreement permanent at the end of the season probably unlikely. This would mean City could swoop for the veteran, who is unhappy as second choice at Southampton, at the end of the season but with a number of Premiership clubs interested in Jones, I think it's unlikely that the Chirk-born 'keeper will ever become a Bluebird.
