Amazing Goal Tally Sets New Record

The 54 goals scored in 12 First Division matches this weekend was a new record, with the goal tally the highest one recorded in England's second-flight for 45 years. The number of goals was the most scored in the division since the league was 're-born' as the First Division for the 1992/1993 season.

After some research it has been discovered that the goal tally of 54 goals in 12 First Division matches this weekend was a new record.

It was the highest number of goals scored in the "new" First Division which was formed for the 1992/1993 season, and the sixth highest number of goals scored in a round of matches ever.

There were some incredible results over the weekend, with Ipswich beating Crewe Alexandra 6-4, Rotherham and Norwich sharing the spoils with a 4-4 draw and Coventry putting 6 past Walsall at the Bescot Stadium. In typical Cardiff City fashion, our game saw just the one goal!

The record number of goals for a second flight match was the 63 goals scored in only 11 matches during the 1926/1927 season, the same campaign that saw Cardiff City lift the F.A Cup.
