Press Reports suggest that Cardiff City are in a financial crisis, with debts of over £24million currently owed by the club. Rumours are doing the rounds that City could be forced to offload big-name players to ease the money troubles at Ninian Park.

Cardiff City are entering a financial crisis, with the club currently in
debts adding up to over £24million. Rumours suggest that the Bluebirds may have to offload bright prospects Robert Earnshaw and Daniel Gabbidon to boost funds and ease the audacious wage bill which currently hangs over City owner Sam Hammam. The reports also claim that City's finances have been blocked, which would explain why York City are yet to receive a bid from Cardiff for Lee Bullock, who previously looked set to make a move to South Wales for a fee in the region of £150,000. The club failed to stump up funds for Julian Gray in December, who was offered to the club for £500,000 after Crystal Palace turned down an approach from Lennie Lawrence to loan the left winger for a third month. Robert Earnshaw has been linked with moves to many different clubs, but the majority of these stories have been nothing more than speculation. However, it is known that Fulham boss Chris Coleman is an admirer of his former Wales team-mate, and following Louis Saha's departure from the ambitious Premiership side, a bid could come from Loftus Road. City owner Sam Hammam has always insisted he would not sell the highly-rated duo unless a bid from one of Britain's biggest clubs came in. Fulham probably wouldn't come under that bracket, but if these reports of major financial problems at City are correct, a bid in the region of £5million from the Cottagers would be extremely tempting to the Lebanese businessman. |
