The inconsistent form of the Cardiff City reserve side continues, with the Bluebirds second-string putting their 4-1 league defeat at the hands of Bristol Rovers behind them, to trounce Reading 5-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Ninian Park.

The City reserve line-up was very, very strong including first-team squad players Neil Alexander, Gareth Whalley, Andy Campbell, Jason Bowen, Gavin Gordon, Mark Bonner and James Collins. The Royals also had a few well-known names in their line-up, including former Wurzel and Bluebirds target Scott Murray.

Andy Campbell and Gavin Gordon both did their chances of earning a re-call to the first-team a huge boost with a brace apiece, with John Robinson also on the scoresheet for the hosts.
