Pardew Hails Martyn Margetson

West Ham United manager Alan Pardew has praised the performance of City 'keeper Martyn Margetson during the Hammers' 1-0 victory over the Bluebirds on Saturday. Pardew went on to discuss the controversy surrounding Daniel Gabbidon's yellow card, which could easily have been a red.

hailed Cardiff City 'keeper Martyn Margetson for his phenomenal display
during the Bluebirds' 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Hammers at Upton Park
on Saturday. The Cardiff shot stopper made a number of terrific saves during a match before Bobby Zamora finally broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute. The hosts could easily have scored far more than their one goal, but the heroics from Margetson kept City in the game. "Their keeper was very assured, it was an excellent display from him. Some of the saves he made before our goal were simply outstanding" said Pardew Pardew also spoke about the controversy surrounding Daniel Gabbidon's yellow card. The Welsh international defender, who appeared to be the last man, pulled back a West Ham forward as he ran towards the Margetson in the Cardiff goal but the referee decided to only book Gabbidon to the annoyance of the West Ham team and vocal home support. "I went to see the referee at half time to discuss a couple of incidents. I honestly didn't see his argument that another Cardiff defender was coming across to cover behind Gabbidon." added the Hammers manager. "I believe Gabbidon was lucky to remain on the pitch." |
