Wrexham fan and Kop season ticket holder Stephen Matthias gives Bluebird to the Bone his thoughts on Wednesday's FAW Premier Cup clash between the Robins and ourselves. Dennis Smith's side take the competition very seriously, and the game at the Racecourse looks set to be an interesting tie.

Wrexham play South Walian rivals Cardiff City in tomorrows winner takes all FAW Premier Cup Semi-Final a cup which over the last 6 years has proved very beneficial to Wrexham's finances and the morale of their loyal supporters.

While many people agree it's not a patch on the old Welsh Cup there are a lot of Wrexham fans who love the chance to put one over on both Cardiff City and Swansea City in this competition.

Wrexham pride themselves on their cup reputation which in the FA Cup has taken a severe battering over the last four seasons. But you can guarantee they will be "up for this one".

The Reds are looking to avenge the penalty shoot out defeat at the hands of Cardiff in the 01/02 relegation season, a bitter blow to them because it could have provided the club with a much needed financial boost.

Cardiff are coming to Wrexham with a fairly strong squad which contradicts their policy in this cup during recent seasons. In fact Cardiff have shown a bit of a disregard to this competition over the years which gives clubs such as Wrexham a chance to get some much needed and much loved silverware in their cabinet.

A tight game is expected and a small crowd, with unrest off the pitch at Wrexham I am not expecting the notoriously fickle public to turn out for a televised match, I would expect the crowd to be around the 1500 mark with around 50 Cardiff fans expected. But the ones who will be there I am sure you'll hear from them. There are no score predictions from me but I am hoping we can get through to another final, we need a boost!
