City Target Crawford Joins Plymouth

Plymouth Argyle have completed their fifth summer signing, with their latest acquisition a player who was strongly linked with a move to Ninian Park recently. Dunfermline forward Stevie Crawford will be at Home Park next season, as the Pilgrims prepare for First Division life.

Plymouth Argyle have completed the signing of Dunfermline forward Stevie Crawford. The Scottish international had been strongly linked with a move to Ninian Park, but the Bluebirds and other First Division clubs have missed out on the highly-rated 30-year-old as the Pilgrims add another impressive signing to their squad as they prepare for life in England's second flight.

Crawford has been top scorer for the Pars in each of the last four seasons and the media had suggested that the Bluebirds could be ready to add the prolific striker to their ranks for the 2004/2005 campaign. However, Plymouth offered the Scotsman an excellent deal which could not be matched by Dunfermline, and he will now make the long journey south to Devon, where he may well finish his career at Home Park.

"He's a very talented individual," said Plymouth boss Bobby Williamson, "He has got good movement, good pace and I feel he can trouble any defence.

"As far as I was concerned, I had made all my signings for the summer. I didn't think a player of Stevie's attributes and quality would become available.
